Carrie opened The Joy of Olives Summer 2018
Let me tell you a little bit about me.
I am a registered nurse and worked for several years at an Ottawa hospital before leaving to stay home and raise my three children.
I have always strived to provide healthy meals at home, but I did use my fair share of other refined oils and margarine for cooking. The shift to olive oil came shortly after my diagnosis and treatment for breast cancer. I have tried to incorporate healthier choices into my lifestyle including extra virgin olive oil. After learning about all the benefits, it was a no-brainer. In 2018, I opened my store to bring the freshest olive oil to you.
In January 2019, I completed the Olive Oil Sommelier course at the International Culinary Center in London, England. I wanted to gain a deeper understanding about olive oil so I could better source olive oils from around the world, make recommendations about which oils and balsamic should go with types of food based on my knowledge of oil and vinegar pairing.
I hope you will enjoy visiting The Joy of Olives and leave with some of the freshest and finest olive oil the world has to offer. The white and aged dark balsamic vinegars are delicious and an exciting addition to cuisine.
